Cancellation guide

How to cancel Tinder

How you cancel Tinder depends on how you paid. Its terms say subscriptions bought through Apple or Google must be cancelled in that store, while subscriptions paid by card on the website or in the app are cancelled in the Account section. Either way, you keep access until the end of the current period.

Before you start

  • Find out how you pay: directly on the site, or through Apple or Google Play. The route to cancel is different.
  • Note the renewal date in your account and cancel before it.
  • Keep the confirmation email or a screenshot, and check your bank statement after the next cycle.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Check how you paid

Look at your receipt: an Apple or Google receipt means the store bills you; a card or other payment on tinder.com or in the app means Tinder bills you directly.

  2. 2

    Apple: cancel on your iPhone

Open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, select Tinder and tap Cancel Subscription.

  3. 3

Google Play: cancel in Google Play

Open the Google Play app, go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select Tinder and cancel.

  4. 4

Paid Tinder directly: use the Account section

The terms say to log in to the website or app and go to the Account section to cancel.

  5. 5

Keep proof and check your statement

Keep the cancellation confirmation and check your next statement. If you switched phones, check the old platform too, as store subscriptions stay with the store you used.

Paid through Apple or Google?

Tinder's terms say that if you subscribed with your Apple ID, cancellation and refunds are handled by Apple, not Tinder, and Google Play purchases are cancelled in Google Play. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Cooling-off period and refunds

Tinder's terms say subscribers in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland are entitled to a full refund during the 14 days after the subscription begins. For Apple purchases, ask Apple; for other purchases, contact Tinder through its help centre. The terms add that virtual items, once delivered with your consent, can't be refunded.

For the general rules on cancelling services bought online in Ireland, see the CCPC's guide. General information, not legal advice.

Deleting your profile vs stopping payments

Tinder's terms say cancelling a subscription doesn't remove your profile, and deleting your account (Settings, Delete Account) doesn't cancel purchases made through Apple or Google. Cancel the subscription first, then delete the account if you want to.

If it still charges you

Contact Tinder's support with your confirmation and the date you cancelled. If you paid by card and can't get a response, talk to your bank or card provider about the payment. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, ask them for help from your purchase history.
